Passport to Manhood consists of 14 sessions, each of which concentrates on a specific aspect of manhood through highly interactive activities. In addition to Club staff, peer leaders (older Club members), volunteers and parents can all become involved in the implementation of the program. Each Club member who participates in the program is issued his own “Passport” to underscore the notion that he is on a personal journey of maturation and personal growth. At the close of each session, the member’s Passport is stamped and signed by the Group Leader as a way to recognize the achievement of another milestone in the passage to manhood. The final session is a graduation ceremony during which the participants, their parents and family members, Club officials and others can celebrate the completion of the boys’ work. Each “class” will develop a positive code of conduct to serve as their creed as they move forward toward manhood.
The 14 sessions that make up Passport to Manhood are as follows:
- Getting to Know You
- Values in Personal Decision Making
- Code of Ethics
- Personal Wellness
- Substance Abuse
- Responses to Authority
- Relationships with Girls
- Fatherhood and the Family
